Replace Ivanti Pulse Secure Appliances (PSA) with a More Secure and Faster Service

Ivanti announced the end-of-life for the Pulse Secure Appliance (PSA) series and corresponding software releases. Organizations using these products have very limited time before they must switch to other solutions to ensure security, compliance and business continuity.

With all the recent zero-day vulnerabilities uncovered for Ivanti products, organizations are at extreme risk if they do not migrate to a more secure solution quickly.

While Ivanti highlighted new appliances and software releases as a migration path, Ivanti customers should use this opportunity to reassess their overall solution and consider their organization's evolving needs. Rather than simply swapping one device for another, it's essential to evaluate the broader and newer requirements of an organization to ensure the best fit moving forward..

Over the past 3 to 5 years, advancements in network security, hybrid work, and cloud services have transformed the industry. The traditional approach of deploying standalone appliances, managing them individually, and grappling with scalability no longer meets the demands of modern businesses. That legacy model is now a thing of the past.

The challenges of Replacing Ivanti PSA Appliances and Another Set of Appliances

No Investment Protection

  • Ivanti has more than 50+ products, and Ivanti Connect Secure (aka Pulse Connect Secure + PSA appliance) for Remote Access is just one of them.
  • Ivanti has not significantly invested in these product lines for years, they are now in maintenance mode. Hence, there will be no innovations to support modern hybrid work use cases.
  • Ivanti is unlikely to enhance the Ivanti Connect Secure product by introducing new features such as SWG, CASB, DLP, or other functionalities that are essential for organizations today.

No Improvements for Current Limitations of PSA Appliances

With PSA end-of-life, even though Ivanti proposes to use another hardware appliance called ISA, there are several challenges with this approach:

  • Organizations are not able to get the full advantages of a  modern ZTNA type solution.
  • Organizations still must manage the overhead of hardware cost, supply-chain logistics issues, rack/power costs, etc.
  • Ivanti hardware appliance performance (per-appliance throughput) is much lower,  even using hardware comparable to a software-based like the Cloudbrink service.

 No ROI

  • Ivanti Connect Secure is not suitable for modern hybrid work scenarios where users are accessing apps across multiple data centers simultaneously, including apps hosted in the cloud like SaaS apps and Cloud IaaS.
  • Any challenges with Ivanti's customer support services are expected to worsen with the introduction of the new appliance and its updated software, potentially creating further difficulties for Ivanti customers.

A Move In The Right Direction

This is an ideal opportunity for organizations to assess their networking, security, and operational needs while exploring next-generation solutions that have leapfrogged old traditional solutions from vendors such as Ivanti. Migrating from one appliance family to another is pointless without achieving a significant and meaningful impact.

Cloudbrink delivers substantial advantages compared to Ivanti (Pulse Secure) VPN:

  • 30X performance improvements
  • Very strong security with SDP-compliant architecture with all ZTNA features
  • Security for Internet access as well as enterprise applications access
  • Unified configuration, visibility and support services
  • Significant reduction in TCO due to as-a-service model and zero hardware
