Yes. On 1 September 2026, Cisco announced the end of sale and end of life of Cisco Umbrella SIG and DNS, stating that the product is evolving into Cisco Secure Access. The key dates are:
- End of sale: 31 January 2027
- Last date to renew service contracts: 31 January 2028
- Last date of support: 31 January 2029
The announcement covers the DNS Essentials and Advantage packages, SIG Essentials and Advantage, Umbrella Investigate, remote browser isolation, data loss prevention, and education offers. Most have a named Cisco Secure Access replacement, although some items, such as the Layer 7 cloud firewall and certain browser isolation variants, have no direct migration path.
This follows earlier retirements. The standalone Umbrella roaming client reached end of support on 2 April 2025 and was replaced by the Umbrella module in Cisco Secure Client. Several legacy Umbrella offers, including Umbrella Branch for ISR routers, reached end of sale on 30 September 2025.
Existing customers can keep using Umbrella under their current contracts until support ends, but new purchases stop in January 2027. Cisco is steering customers to Secure Access, where DNS protection is sold as DNS Defense and web security as Secure Internet Access.
If you run Umbrella today, check your part numbers against Cisco’s end-of-life bulletin, confirm your renewal dates and plan the migration early. It is also a sensible point to decide whether Secure Access or another platform best fits your needs.
